SWMU 69 – Aircraft Parking Area

SWMU 69 is located on the western end of the Ofstie Airfield on the northern aircraft parking apron. Records reviews indicate extensive staining on and along the edge of the apron and three above ground storage tanks (ASTs). The records review identified the area as part of the aircraft apron, where numerous aircraft were parked throughout its usage period.

During the site inspection and investigation it was noted a drainage ditch parallels the apron going from west to east. Although there was visual evidence of staining along the southern portion of the expanded aircraft apron, there was no indication of stressed vegetation in any areas of this site.

Surface and subsurface soil samples were collected to characterize the site. From the detections of fuel-related compounds and metals associated with fuel compounds at the aircraft parking area, it is concluded that the surface soil has been impacted by past site activities.
